CLASS
BPK were proud to present an informative and practical self defence

LEGAL RECOVERY FIRM OF THE YEAR FINALIST
BPK have been shortlisted for the ‘Legal Recovery Firm of the
Year 2011’ in Credit Today’s Debt Collection Awards. A
record number of entries were made for this year’s awards and
BPK have been shortlisted along with 4 other national firms.
Our Commercial Recovery team will be attending the awards on 9
November 2011 at The Palace Hotel in Manchester.
Managing Director, James Bell commented ‘this is welcome recognition
for the team who have been working very hard over the years. They
just do not give up and I think that message is finally getting
through to the debtors we chase. We actively use the most up to

REBECCA TOPPIN QUALIFIES AS A SOLICITOR
Rebecca completed her law degree in 2006 and went on to successfully
complete her LPC in 2007 with Commendation. Rebecca then undertook
a placement in Brussels and joined Bell Park Kerridge as Paralegel
in the property department upon her return to the country in 2008.
Rebecca started her formal training with Bell Park Kerridge in September
2009 and has qualified into the firm's non contentious department
specialising in property and IP/Computer law. |

SUPER SUNSHINE SUCCESS FOR COCKERMOUTH SHOW 2011
Glorious sunny weather was again upon us at the Cockermouth Show.
The show was a great successs. Our free face painting was a big
hit with the children and their parents enjoyed refreshments and
our homemade cakes.
There were many entries in our 'guess how many balloons are in
the van' competition. The lucky winner of the luxury hamper was
P Harper of maryport with the correct answer of 94.
The winner of the vintage tractor competition was Mr Benson from
Workington. He correctly guessed that Director, James Bell's vintage
International 523 tractor was manufactured in Neuss, Germant. Mr
Benson also won a luxury hamper.
Visitors to the stand also received the highly prized BPK goodie
bag which included a special BPK edition of the Times and Star newspaper.
Also included was a voucher for £10 off a Will, or £20
off a Lasting Power of Attorney which is valid until 31 October
2011.

BPK's BUSINESS LAW
SEMINAR SUCCESS
BPK were proud to present their first Business Law Seminar at our
Cockermouth offices on 7th July 2011. A broad mix of guests
from different business sectors received practical, commercially driven
tips and information on commercial debt recovery, credit control,
contract, commercial property, employment, and wills and lasting powers
of attorney from solicitors Claire Harrison, Lucy Fuggle, Natalie
Bell and Paul Forster.

Quality Scheme - the mark of excellence for the home buying process.
At the time of joining the scheme only one other firm in Carlisle
had achieved CQS and Bell Park Kerridge was the first firm in West
Cumbria to be accredited with CQS status. For

BPK's TARA PEARSON WINS "MISS CHARITY
2011"
Bell Park Kerridge's Tara Pearson, who is based in the firm's Lakeland
office, ran 7.5 miles and raised a total of £1,201.60 for
The Variety Club, in doing so she won the title of "Miss Charity
Cumbria 2011" and was voted "Miss Popularity Cumbria 2011"
in a public vote. In winning the two "Miss" titles Tara
has secured herself a place in the Miss England 2011 competition.

FARMERS QUESTION TIME
- HUGE SUCCESS
Bell Park Kerridge held a FREE question and answer session for Farmers,
at Brampton Golf Club on 13th April 2011, which was well attended.
Guests were given a free supper at the end of the event. During
the evening key issues Farmers face in relation to their farming business,
including Inheritance Tax planning, Farming Partnerships and Land
Registration were discussed. We also discussed the pros and cons of
gifting the farm to the children during the Farmer's lifetime. The
issues were dealt with by the professionals on the panel, being Duncan
Carter from Bell Park Kerridge, Robin Steel from C & D Property
Services and Helen Workman from Saint & Co Accountants. James
Bell chaired the event. The event will run again in 2012, so look
out for more details nearer the time.
