EXPERT TIPS ON SURVIVING RECESSION

BPK’s Commercial Recovery Manager Vicki Moffat was recently featured in The Cumberland News’ specialist business and finance section. The advice was informative and practical.

Many companies hitting problems during a downturn do so because they fail to chase up debts

“The key to business survival is taking action quickly and saying no to the recession. Don’t run your business as a charity.

“Recession or no recession there are always those unable to settle up when their debts fall due.

“Company insolvencies have a domino effect.

“Sixteen per cent of businesses entering compulsory liquidation do so as a result of bad debt and the knock on effect of the failure of another company.

“Duncan Bannatyne famously said in his autobiography that when times are hard he “paid the screamers”.

“Our advice to clients is to learn how to scream very loudly.”
