If so after the 15th March 2027 it will no longer be possible to de-register that land and buildings unless the registration was the result of a mistake by the registration authority.
If any of your land (whether farmland or not) or buildings were wrongly registered unless there was a mistake by the registration authority you need to move quickly with a view to cancelling the registration.
If you are in any doubt, it is sensible to check the Commons Register to ensure that no such mistake affects your property. This is particularly relevant for larger landowners such as farmers and landed estates.
If you discover that your property is affected by such a mistake you should take advice and appropriate action sooner rather than later as the deadline for correction is fast approaching.
It will also cease to be possible to register land which is recognised by or under a statute as common land or village green but which was not registered when it should have been in the 1960s.
Another aspect of the changes is that if a Village Green has been mistakenly registered as common land it will no longer be possible to re-register it as a town or village green.
If you believe that you may be affected, please contact
The map of registered common land and village greens is available online at Cumberland Council:

or for Westmorland and Furness Council:

The online maps are not however definitive and if you believe that you may be affected, further enquiries should be made as you should not rely fully upon the maps published on the Council websites.
